Default thank you and hello

got my baby in august; a lowly xj8, but my baby nonetheless. mum had 2 x-types growing up and while i loved them but i always wanted the real deal so we're at least a step forward there. this is my first project car, got it as practice as i am an apprentice millwright and wanted something more challenging than the grunt work that comes with that. she was $1000 with a broken fuel pump from an old guy who couldnt be bothered to keep it going any longer (hey if youre on here lol) and just got something new. he had previously had the timing chain tensioners replaced (score) and the transmission had been rebuilt once about halfway through its life. i had it towed to work and had to push it around the parking lot each night so i wouldnt get in trouble lol but over a week changed the fuel pump, filter, fluids, chased some ghosts in the electrics, and she was running great. have since done a little more work and maintenance, chased more ghosts, but its still doing well. at about 1500km since i bought it which is good for the city and great at about $1/km

i mostly just wanted to sign up to thank you guys for this great resource. forums like this are so invaluable and can never be replaced by social media. thanks to all of the wonderful contributors, admins, and people asking the "dumb" questions i get to smile every day when i go to drive to work. it means the world to me

Welcome to the forums numagik,

For your own benefit ( and my eyesight. ), please use capital letters at the beginning of sentences. Reading posts with a block of entirely lower case text is tedious and a lot of our members simply won't bother.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Canada Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-73/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar XJ8! And all your successful repairs to this time.
By the way, those X-types of your mother's were just as much the Real Deal as that XJ8.
They merely came out a different door at factory.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
