transmission speed sensor location
Hello, I have a 2002 Jaguar X type with 3.0 engine 5 speed automatic transmission. I bought the car Jan 2002 with 20K miles. It had caught on fire did damage to passenger side interior, dash wiring harness etc. Paid 7k for it. I had a Jaguar dealer do all repairs. The car has been great until a few months ago. It now has 101K miles. I was in town driving. I stopped at a red light. The light turns green so I pull out and I hear the motor rev. I let off the gas a little and it shifts into 4th gear and 5th no problem. I look on the dash and there is a reading transmission fault. I pull over turn the car off and restart it and the reading is gone. The car drove about 30 mins home no issues. A few days latter I get in pull out on the road, the car revs and when I let off the gas it shifts into fourth and fifth gear. Same message transmission fault. Turn it off start it back up no message start driving it shifts good no issues. It doesn't do this all the time which makes me think its a sensor. I am not a mechanic but I have changed the thermostat, starter, water pump, fuel filter, and fuel pump. I changed the transmission fluid and it looked ok for 100k miles. I have been reading that it might be a transmission speed sensor, sounds like a simple fix. Can anyone tell me where the transmission speed sensor is located?
