Default Removing the manifold and lower plenum on a 2002 S-type FAQ

I had a 2002 S-type and I removed the upper and lower manifold, to change the spark plugs and coils, and the vacuum elbow that loves to cause vacuum leaks. The article is on the link with pics. Best of luck!

Thanks daxter, I'm going to add this to the FAQs, people are always wondering about the famous elbow.

Daxter, the "Also, the two bolts in the back hold this weird almost pointless black bracket that surrounds the regulator" is NOT pointless! That bracket protects the fuel regulator and in a collision if for some reason something hits and snaps of the fuel regulator, it quite possibly would not be a pretty sight....POOF time to roast some marshmellows!

Thanks for sharing

Thing you need to know is that a UK late 02 is a USA 03. We got them (the major redesign) as 2002.5MY but they got them as 2003MY.

So, see what he says but given the 2 cylinders are next to each other I think you'll find his was the original (1999-2002) car. (On the 2002.5MY car cyls 1 & 2 are in different banks, unlike in the original car.)

When you get a few more posts it's worth grabbing the PDFs from the FAQs - such as the Vehicle Specifications one. It includes things like cylinder layouts.

Just for my own edification, how much does the intake manifold weigh approximately?

For a 2000 model it takes 2 upper and 2 lower gaskets instead of 12 individual ones, FEL Pro lower number is MS 96475, haven't found upper ones yet, I got lowers from Rock Auto.

55chevy

try searching intake "plenum" gaskets

Auto Zone carries aftermarket FelPro intake plenum gasket here:
