Question 03 S Type - Front RH Indicator not working

Greetings all,

Having an issue with the right hand turn signal not working. Both the side and back right hand turn signals work fine. I have checked the fuse and even replaced it with a new one with no luck (F8 with a 5A fuse). Also, the bulb is fine as I can move it to the left hand side of the vehicle and it works there.

I have been having trouble with the right, front signal for some time and was hoping that I could get some help troubleshooting the possible electrical issue.

I have the 2003 (or 2002.5) S Type electrical guide and curious as to how to troubleshoot it. My electrical skills are lacking but hoping to get some pointers.

Thanks in advance for your help

I am having the same issue. I replaced both the 8 and 10 fuse in the passenger side fuse box. Fixed it for a few days but it ended up being the bulb socket holder. I have one on order. I found a good deal on it, hope it works. When I called the dealership they wanted a $100 bucks for it. I couldn't believe it. I had just replaced one on my wife's Jeep. It cost me $6.

Default Good to know...

I was wondering if it was the bulb socket holder as well but could not find a part number for one. Before the only Jag dealer closed in STL, they wanted to sell me the complete light housing for the side, I don't remember the quote they gave me but it was alot.

Did you happen to find the part number for the socket?

Try a few online parts places but if expensive try a wrecker or ebay, just make sure you get one suitable for your car.

+1 on the bulb holder, IIRC they are either not available or horrendously expensive.

Thanks all for your comments.

Abonano, I am interested in one of the holders but I believe since that I am a new member that I can't PM you yet. Can you PM me with a price? (** Edit - Nevermind, I found how to send a PM and I sent you one **)

I also found this thread about about the turnsignal issue and may give it a try until I get it replaced.

I knew there was a thread somewhere!
I've cleaned mine up and bent the contacts and managed to keep it going, I see Brutal quoted $53 in that thread, I'd have thought $5 would be nearer the mark.

Yep, burnish your bulbholder contacts and work with them before biting the bullet and spending the money to replace them. I've done this with a couple of different vehicles over the years and managed to get the bulbs working properly again. A little effort can sometimes save you from having to purchase an expensive replacement part....

I have ordered a new socket to replace the current faulty socket. I have applied TBird6's described fix to get the turn signal to work again. I posted what I did and with pictures in the other thread (since that is where he posted what he did) to help anyone else having the issue.

I will post again once I have the new socket installed.

Yes I am NOT proud of the repair but with over 70K miles on it now I guess it does work.
I am Tbird6 too as I have posted under both user names.
