Welcome to the forum cool!

May I suggest that you go to the "New Member" section and introduce yourself per forum rules. This opens up more information contained here among other things.

I did not want your question to go unanswered. I do not know, what I generally would do in this case is go out and wrench on Joyces S type (wifeys vehicle) to find out, but the vehicle will not be home until tomorrow.

In the meantime maybe someone else will know.

You might want to download the JTIS free from here (just search). Its a shop manual.

Please see my signature as well below!

ouch... I'm sure someone will chime in. Everyone is pretty cool here although you're supposed to go to the new member section. With that being said, sorry I can't help. I've only changed the tail lights not the 3rd brake light yet.

You're told to go to the New Member section so that the mods can realize you aren't a spammer and will often upgrade your access so that you can see more of the forum. Did you try the tips abonano left on your other thread?

Sending PM's to the techs is not a really great idea. It burns them out.

Try the owners vehicle maintenance manual. That is separate from the owners operating manual. That is where Jaguar puts bulb changing instructions.

Admittedly I've got a UK spec car but in the manual there's no mention of renewing the mid-level brake light bulbs (you're talking about the strip in the rear window, yes?) so I can only assume they're LEDs and not designed to be changed.

If yours isn't working have you checked the fuse? It's F53 (a red 10A mini) in the fuse box in the boot (trunk) according to the book, but as I say I have a UK car so yours might be different.

Coolblue, I've merged your two threads as the subject is the same, I understand your frustration, but the people who answer here are doing it because they are enthusiasts trying to help others, if they don't know the answer you will need to be patient, I'm sure someone will have an answer for you.

Here is the info from JTIS for the 2000 car, probaly hasn't changed much.

It's always possible that the tech authors failed to document it. Just get tools out and take apart all the obvious or non-obvious parts till it's accessible

Or, take to a mechanic.

Coolhotblue - I responded to you yesterday with what I thought was useful information... remember, your first post on this issue.... What Gives??? Did you even read it? Look under trunk lid and there should be a cover - take that off and you should see the bulb socket, twist it off and replace the bulb. The lens looks like its an LED set up but according to the PDF parts list I have it's showing 1 bulb. Thanks

I did spend some in the rear trunk, i took apart the cover only to find the two alpine (subwoofer speakers) that needed to be removed, and still was unable to reach the light assembly after removing them. i could see the connector cable but unable to get to the light assembly. i put it all back together, after some more searching i think i need to attack this from inside by removing the rear parcel shelf and start all over again for my search for the elusive brake light assembly...this truly is nutz

That's what it says in the PDF I posted, you may not be able to open it, 1 more post should do the trick.
