Default '03 STR Ground Locations - Straightforward Question

Guys

I'm looking to investigate ground locations in and around the engine area, the wheel wells, and the front end.

The sevice manual had the attached image:

I'm wondering if anyone can describe the actual physical locations of the indicated ground areas?

Thanks

I know the nearest one to the passenger door is behind the black inner fender well. Not so difficult to remove. Even though I had ours off including front bumper skin, I cannot remember where the front 2 are located.

The same guide with that pic is searchable and describes where each is
(but not in as much detail as ideal!)

yep, familiar with the tool, adobe is cool like that.

"engine compartment, engine block" isn't quite cutting it.

Locating, specifically, the engine compartment ground PI51 and the ignition capacitor would be helpful, I think, at this point.

"capacitor" returns no hits in a global search, all locations selected, in the JTIS

Have you tried searching for the tags on the location PDF e.g. CA141?

The location PDF will deliver lots of hits, using tags, CA141 or PI51, or any of the others, as they show up quite a few times in various wireharness sections.

Description of location is better for some, murky for others - CA141 is "under LH front seat" which is actually fairly descriptive. PI51, however, is more cryptic "engine compartment, engine block" - and while not a "big block" (ha), to search around on, still a bit lacking in specific location.

In the JTIS, searching with "capacitor", CA141, or PI51, across all sections available (Description & Operation, Remove & Install, Specifications - etc, etc) results in no hits on any of the mentioned variables.

At this point, I'm getting DTC's on 6 of 8 cylinders for misfire. I'm skeptical of 6 coils going bad, and I've replaced all 8 plugs - yes, with the NGK iridiums, gapped at .040. Coils looked decent - slight bit of oil here and there, no pools in the plug galleys.

My thinking is that I have upset a ground somewhere, or have compromised the wiring harness during efforts to repair/replace cooling system hoses, belts, and other various.

Would like to lay eyes on the ignition capacitor and the "engine compartment, engine block" ground point to see if anything looks amiss. Any help in achieving this would be very much appreciated....just seems like a good place to start.

Kind Regards,

If you find this "ignition capacitor" please post back?? Did not know the S Type had one?

I have not heard those two words used together since the old time distributor and mechanical points systems of the 1960's.

Never found it - followed the JTIS procedure for checking pins and grounds at each coil, and those were all good, so figured I must be getting good ground.

Root cause to my issue ended up being an intake leak at the pcv hose, under the TB motor. So, all the misfire codes were real, and not caused by an improper ground, but rather an extra pile of unmeasured air getting into the system.

New pcv hose cleared up the drivability issues....but now have new codes to chase.

kind regards
