Default 1999 S-type battery discharge

Last week I discovered a rain leak in the boot, which I understand from forums is not uncommon. The battery had gone flat which I put down to the damp in the boot. I dried the boot.

I fully recharged the battery, drove the car fine. Covered it for the week, to keep out any more rain, but alas when trying it tonight the battery was again flat. Is there any chance of the wiring causing a short in the boot? Is this also common? or do I have a battery problem, the battery is only 6 months old.

I've moved your tech question to the S-Type section for input from more members with the same model.

BRG, check for the obvious, such as loose and/or corroded battery terminals. A weak alternator may also exist. Test the battery with engine off (12 volts) and also running (14 volts).

It's possible that the electronics that became wet are putting a constant draw on the battery. Try disconnecting it when the car is not in use to see if it keeps a charge.
