Default 2007 Jaguar S-type cruise not available help!!!

hello im new to the forums as i just barely purchased my s-type a month ago yesterday when i turned on my car and had parking brake fault message i drove to the corner store got out for about 5 mins and when i tried starting it was as if the battery was dead it did a weird reboot on its own and asked me to apply brake and put parking brake, everything seemed fine after that, this morning i woke up and my car was completely dead i gave it a jump it asked to apply brake and put parking brake and was fine again during the day i went to turn it on to make sure it wasnt dead again and everything is fine a couple hours later i was on my way to wal mart and i got the "cruise not available message" i turned the car of and than back on and it was gone i drove there and back with no problems any ideas on whats causing all this? Im most likely gonna take it to the dealership but its about 45 minute drive so i would rather know if i can find out what it is thanks in advanced

Welcome (& please post an intro in the newbie section).

Sounds like a weak or dead battery

You could check the battery's date (hunt around it) or just change it - no need to get from dealer but do buy a hefty (and vented) one. Various details in old threads if you have trouble figuring it out.

Ok I can't seem to find the date but I will check and I probably will get for the dealer because of the navigation system hopefully that's all it is and nothing else, I was reading that the cruise not available message is something that pops up before a bigger problem happens hopefully not, thanks again

3m - do you have just the same fault (& no others)?

If anything different please start a new thread.

Also, car info needed - see below

I went to check the battery and seen the the ground cable was loose I removed it to inspect it and the terminal was broken with a piece just staying there because of the how tight it was goin to bought a new one at oreillys but doesn't fit will I'm just gonna order one at a jaguar service shop, but could does messages all stem from a bad battery connection?

Yes. Computers don't like weird power / bad volts / etc!! Imagine you were being strangled from time to time. You'd make some odd noises I expect.

I'm sure the broken lead will be the answer, and it's cheaper than a battery, you should still check the battery also.

Ok thanks for all the help jaguar dealer said it would take 5 days to order the ground terminal and it's 66.99! Compared to the 6 bucks one I got from autozone I just cut the extra piece it had and made it resemble the original and got a good fit, car started right up and no problems so far, anyone have a reason why I should buy the terminal from jaguar still or is using the one from autozone just fine? Its just the ground one so its not like theres anything extra hooked up. Again thanks for the help

If it's making a good connection and is suitably meaty (plenty of metal), it'll be fine. I'd be very reluctant to pay what the dealer want!

It needs to be a good path for the hefty current that flows on start-up and when there are other peak demands. If loose you're lucky to get a no-start as an alternative could be sparks and possibly a fire.

Just save the $60.99 to use for something else.
Maybe a coolant tank?
