I think it's the coolant hose back from the TB (throttle body). If so, only some models would need it i.e. those with the TB at the back of the engine. It's at the front on most, I think
There's probably a similar hose on each of the SC jags.
I'm up for a better hose if someone finds one. If I have to do this job on my car, I'd sure hate to have to do it more than once.

theres no plastic on/in the hose assembly. Simply reffereing to plastic and rubber on todays cars that deteriorate with heat. This is a throttle body heater and we all(most of us) know what heat does to power production(goes down due to less dense air). I have BYPASSED the TB heater on my Nissan and for those not in the FREEZE belt of harse winters. I would consider deleting this hose entirely and plug off the port under the sc with a silicone hose cap. I would recommend this where you wont get icing of the TB. Or you can make a bypass where the hose is used, but you disconnect the 2 ends from the TB and connect them together. In the winter just reconnect to the TB

I do understand what your saying but this repair has been quoted to several people on the forum to cost from $1200-$1800. The hose is $20. For that kind of money I WILL change this!!! After several guys do it and we get a good set of instructions I think it would be something to do anytime the car has 50K miles or more.
I also like the Silicone hose idea a lot. Don't know what it takes to get one made with that material?

I don't believe the coolant return hose has any plastic in it. It appears to be solid rubber and you can protect it with thermal sleeve material. As far as not wanting to
perform this repair personally, I guess that's an alternative, albeit an expensive one.
So far my repair has cost me about $200 for parts and about 6 hours of time.

The discussion is being spread across multiple threads and it's very fractured.
Regarding the hose. See the other thread. That fitting is made from something. It could be a heavy duty glass reinforced duty nylon which should be fine. I'd suggest a complete autopsy of the hose and a look at what else is around the failure point.

I'm doing this repair also, but am not going to pull the engine. According to the JTIS, it can be done in the car and the instructions I downloaded looks like it will take time
but still not too difficult. I will be taking photos and passing along the instructions once I get them scanned.

He's unlikely to get an answer from the OP because if I remember correctly it was this repair plus the "while I'm at it" supercharger "upgrade" that ended up making him unload this car.
