Default Anyone put a hitch on a STR before?

Looking to put a trailer hitch on my STR to trailer my bike to the drag strip.....Will a S Type hitch fit the STR's lower rear bumper?

If not I might cut it or mod the hitch.....be nice if I didnt have to do either.....

It would be cool to trailer my baby with my kitty

It would be a sight, but not sure if I could I would for very long since the transmission is not geared for pulling a load and might overheat. If you do mod it then you must post pictures here!

Riski, your owners manual should point you in the right direction. I remember back with our '97 GTP, the manual stated not to tow with a supercharger. But that vehicle was a totally different animal.

With all the concerns posted here regularly about the ZF transmission and its famous lurch, I wouldn't risk towing even a Red Ryder wagon with our S-Type....

I think a better and safer idea would be to use the bike to tow the STR to the dragstrip..

Blasphemy!

OK, I am just glad that I am not the only one who has thought of this at some point , but like Jon said, I don't think the transmission would like it. The owner's manual says 4079 lbs is the max load, and if I recall, it shows where the trailer hitch setup would attach.

At least one member on the .co.uk forum has a towbar on his STR. Might be posts worth reading or even PM him there.

I dont think @600lbs would hurt the car too much.....the bike is @400 and trailer would be 200 max, open trailer, flat and simple.....

I cant see the tranny having too many issues with that light weight, if it does, then unbolt it, take it in for warrenty work...
