Default Brake Dust

Hey guys, what brand brake pads are good with little brake dust? Damn I just bought my STR a few days ago and only have about 300 miles on it and my wheels are covered in brake dust

I installed Akebono full ceramic pads front and rear. I like them. Be aware that ceramic pads still make dust, but it is light coloured and tends not to stick to your wheel.

Most people will recommend the akebono's, very popular low-dusting pads in the jag/benz crowd.

I went with EBC RED though (kevlar ceramic), very happy with them. They still dust, but significantly less, and wipes off very easily.

Also what is the difference with brakes from 03-05 and 06-08? Is it the calipers, size, brembos?

They discontinued the Brembos after 2005.

Just as a data point for all, I did the rear brakes on our '05 STR (Brembos) last year. I am new to Jaguar and didn't really do any research before hand.

I ordered a set of Mintex pads through a friend who gets me wholesale Porsche/European car parts.

When I removed the stock Genuine Jaguar pads from the car, guess what, they were Mintex.

And the heavy brake dust continues...

I asked a similar question recently and, as already said, the majority suggested Abebono. Mine are in the mail.

I wonder why? Are the 06-08 just as good?

Probably a cost-saving decision. S-Type sales were steadily declining and the model's demise was already foreseen....

Only Akebono for me!! Been on the STR for over 50K miles and still plenty of pad left and totally cured the brake dust problem.
