Default Brake problems question

hey guys have a quick questions about the brakes on my s-type. Sometimes when pressing the brake it will pop in the pedal and it will make a grind noise and will get really stiff for a quick second and then return to normal. Brakes under regular use are fine. Could this be a rotor problem? or something more in the booster or master? thanks.

It's called 'ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM'

That is not a 'grind' but a rapid succession of modulator valve actuation and pump motor.

Could be normal actuation when a wheel 'skids' or an intermittent fault.

If there are no faults (DTCs) in the ABS module then I would assume that you are momentarily locking a wheel during hard braking.

thanks again bob, I have the Innova with abs scanner tool, but it did not find any faults. Would I need a Jaguar scanner?

Stop braking so hard. The ABS is just doing it's job.

It will do it even when I do not brake hard, its just a intermittent thing. It happened in the parking lot when I was going 5mph... thanks.

Chassis (C) codes can be read with a 'higher-lever' scan tool.

I talked to a shop owner that has a Snap-on scanner with Ford software that was able to read X200 Body and Chassis modules. I don't know if he 'lied' to the scanner and told it to read a Lincoln LS or what????
