Well if any one is out there?

Is there any way to test the intake cam advance? I picked up a protractor, and very, very carefully checked the cam timing. I sure looks dead on. I am now unsure if I was off originally. I did my best to test it with the timing cover on, and then of course tried to shift it. Well now in some quick testing and my repetition of the compression test, it still looks like bank one is charging up pressure quicker and higher than bank 2.

Oil shot everywhere, so I need to put some sheet metal on and re try my compression. It still was so strange to have one bank so different, and have the engine run and idle so nice.

As this was a pita, I just was concerned to check all I could before reassembly.

As mentioned earlier, use the special service tools to reset the camshafts for correct timing.

Refer to JTIS or the Workshop Manual for correct procedure to set up the VVT solenoids when installing the primary timing chains.

 

Honestly, having done that, I was curious if there was any way to test their proper function. as something is causing a compression variation from one bank to the other.

 

Check you have valve clearance on the valves on the bank that is lower its losing compression somewhere?
Which could be cam phasing but valves are easier to check, with engine cover stripped.
