Default Car Door Locking By Itself

Just today my 2003 4.2 S-Type Base decided it didn't want me in the car so it locked me out with my keys in the ignition, $45 later a locksmith got it open. After I got in, when I opened the door the lock would activate, which is why it locked me out. This never happened before and I've always been able to leave my key in the ignition and closed the door. Also I came from the grocery store with my hands full and went to unlock my passenger door by turning twice to the left and it unlocked, bu by the time I grabbed the handle it locked again.....sigh. Any idea what may have caused this? I changed the battery in the fob and at this time disconnected the battery, cleaned the terminal ends and have it on a battery tender type charger until morning. I figured this will reset to default settings and give the battery a good full change. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

There are lots of threads along those lines - you'll be replacing an actuator I suspect.

Or a broken wire where it passes through the door pillar, had that before on a customers car. And I'd left the keys in as well. And it was a Ford Mondeo if I remember right.

Well everything seems to be fine right now, no issues with the door lock. I'm keeping a close eye on it so if it does lock it locks as soon as I open the door and it won't be hard to detect now. I see eBay has several actuators so if it come to that looks like I'm covered. Right now a new issue is A/C not blowing cold on the left side of the dash.....time for a new thread......sigh.
Thanks for your help gentlemen.
