Default Clunk from Steering column?

So I have this low speed clunk that seem to be coming from the steering column.
Its pretty much only while going under around 30 and over rough rounds but you can clearly hear the noise. Anyone else take theirs in for this exact problem?

I know it could be suspension as well just trying to get an clear plan before I bring it to my dealer to be looked at.

Thanks

Good afternoon! I had that same noise.....I took it in under fact warranty....they added a conditioner to the power steering and it went away...this is a known clunk!

(It was only happening when I was turning at low speeds)

Hey SIXX, do you know what conditioner they used? I'm thinking that may solve an issue I have with the Grand Caravan (It's not mine!!!! It's the wife's!). The steering on that one is making noise. The only suggestion that I've read about is to change out the fluid, which I've done. She says it sounds better but I still hear the noise....

Thanks for the input. Don't worry about it SIXX. I'll try the Lucas stuff in the mentioned post.. I'm currently trying the Lucas fuel additive based on another's post on here.... So far no difference in performance or MPG....

Jeff, you have a newer car which likely has no gummed up injectors and yours also has the new-type O2s with better control system (new PCM). Still, any cleaning is good

Yea, I know... Just was hoping to get better than the 20 / 21 combined MPG that I'm getting now....Without too much "behavior modification".. Oh well, like I keep saying....I shoulda gotten a V8!

I have a similar clunking noise however I do not think a ps conditioner will solve the problem. Jag does sells an additive for a the power steering but that was to cure a cooing sound that you could hear at low speeds. I had both noises and the additive had no effect on the clunk. I believe the clunking over rough roads is likely due to worn bushings somewhere in the front end. If it only happens on bumpy roads and is not dependant on turning the wheel, not sure how that could be attributed to a ps fluid issue?

The P/S additive is #C2S-48887 about $12 from Jaguar. This is for the P/S groan/moan/squeak/cooing sounds. There is a TSB on it. JTB00055. It is NOT for any clunking. The clunk is from something in the suspension. If your car has had the additive you should have a sticker on the P/S reservoir with the above number on it. If you had an early car 2000-2002 I would suspect front sway bar bushings. But by 2007 this was fixed?

You have a 2007 and should still be under factory warrantee. See if the dealer can find the problem. If you do get it fixed please post back to the list. Help someone else in the future!!
