Default Code reader

I bought a elm327 code reader for my 2003 S-type 3.0 and doesn't work on the car. I tried it on my Volvo XC90 and it works just fine. I even tried ones from advanced auto and they don't work either. Any advice?

Did you get a v2 or v1.# other people have reported that the later versions don't always work with the s type. When I was at the emission test with my 2003 3.0 they could not get 2 OBDII readers to work, it was only when they connected one that they reserved for the heavies (trucks) were they able to connect and do the emission test.

So do the elm327 normally - but not on your car.

Your choice what you do.

I'm just trying to find one that works. I don't want to pay a shop to give me the codes.

Default Code reader problem

I have an ELM 327 that works flawlessly on my 2004 XK8 wits the Torque Pro program. I recently got a 2008 S-Type and the ELM 327 would not work on it until I switched over to the Dash Command program. Dash Command works on both cars.

Ok, I'll try it. I haven't been successful with finding a code reader that works.

Because 100s have worked OK we know it's something about your car or the tool you've bought (or its software). Hopefully you'll figure it out.

+1
Because no one's reader is reading codes from the OBD socket, there is either a wiring issue with the OBD socket, or the fuse (if there is one; check your owner's manual) is blown.

+1 Nice work Ducmon. Logically, the fuse is the very first thing I would check.
