Question Drivers seat memory

Hi hope one of you chaps can help me?
My drivers seat has stopped working auto on entry and exit! I can still move it manually up and down back and forth but it is a nuisance. I have bad legs and am finding it a problem. The steering wheel is still working on it's memory and is set to auto.
I have tried to reset the memory no luck at all. I am still using the same key.
Regards Brian

My 05 has what I call a gremlin. Sometimes it won't work, but if I turn the car off for a 10 count and start it pack up it works fine. I've only had it happen like twice though.

i believe the amount the seat moves back when you remove the ignition key is only 50mm if you cant get it working can you set memory 1 for normal driving and memory 2 for entry / exit ?

Hi yes I have tried that, it will not move on any memory 1 or 2 I have also checked for any loose connections under the seat it really has me beat. I have had a major operation and I am finding it awkward just when I need it most, I will try and solve it for a week or two then I will just have to let my dealer have a go.

you could try doing a reset by disconnecting the battery for about 30mins but i'd chheck with others on here 1st before doing that.

Before I try and disconnect the battery and then reconnect. Is it possible that the battery could be run down due to little use of the car while I was in hospital? Although it does start OK.

I doubt this is going to be a battery problem, more likely a module if all the connections and cables are good.
So a reset may help, you'll need to reset the clock, one touch windows etc afterwards and you'll need the radio code as you're in the UK.

Brian,
You will see from my post today I've been investigating this part of the S-type electrics in some depth. There's a Technical Bulletin which you will find helpful to diagnose your fault - S501-14. I found a link to it on the forum.

Here it is, this applies to 1999 on, maybe someone can confirm if it is good for the facelift models post 2003 also?
