I thought the procedure in JTIS was quite complete and accurate. Did they miss something?

Thanks. I found how to Calibrate the Parking Brake but nothing on the Procedure to install a new Motor (Actuator). It might be best if i take it to the Jaguar Dealer anyways. Thanks for your help.

??? The instructions are in JTIS or the .pdf as an alternate

Taking it to a Jag dealer will be an extremely expensive move. If you can't DIY, maybe a good indy would do it.

Are you sure the actuator itself is toast? That's kinda rare.

Thank You Mikey? What is JTIS? Its Either the Module in the Trunk or The Motor...Park Brake Fault will not go away after a New Battery and Calibration?

JTIS is the factory service manual. See the stickies at the top of the page.

Did you follow any of the trouble shooting suggestions offered the last time you asked about this same problem?

Default EPB Assembly does fail occasionally.

When my EPB motor failed, the car would sound several quick beeps when I extracted the key during shutoff. The motor was loud and made a crunching sound during shutdown too, and I also had some dash messages/lights and beeps when starting the car - all of which indicated some problem with the brakes.

I did some trial and error things and determined that holding the EPB paddle down during shutoff - thereby disabling the EPB - would eliminate the beeps, error messages and crunching noise. I used this procedure during every shutdown for 3 weeks until I finally got it repaired.

My indie mechanic determined that the park brake cables were intact, but the EPB motor had failed, so I bought a new EPB Assembly off eBay for $253 (dealership: $600+) which my indie installed. It now works fine again and no more beeps, dash lights or motor noise.

Here's a link to the part and supplier from whom I bought my new EPB Assembly...
Jaguar 03 08 S-Type Parking Brake Lever C2Z3205 | eBay

Note that this part is for 2003+ non-STR models. Your car may have a different part number, so check JEPC before ordering. It is listed in JEPC under "Braking System/Handbrake Mechanism".

Although rare, the EPB motor does fail, as it did in my case. But the car gave me lots of indicators of the failure. So, if you are hearing beeps or seeing any dash messages during shutoff, then it is possible yours failed same as mine. See if the beeps and messages disappear when you hold down the EPB paddle while extracting your key.

Absent any failure messages or beeps I'd look at the rest of the EPB system for possible failures first. And as always, you should do as much research on this forum and in the Jaguar manuals, which are available as free downloads on this forum.

Is the XF Or XJ EPB Motor--Actuator compatible?....The link you provided shows an XF Parking Brake Motor...I assume it would work...I will call a Jaguar Dealer to inquire...

You can go to GaudinJaguarParts.com and search part #C2Z3205 to see what cars use this EPB Assembly. They call it a Parking Brake Control. You'll see that this part fits numerous years and models of Jaguar.

Many of the original part numbers on these cars have been superceded by newer numbers that are often not listed in JEPC. Gaudin Jaguar Parts is one of several excellent online genuine Jaguar parts sellers that have reliable parts databases you can search for up-to-date part numbers. Once you have the latest part number for your specific car you can then search Amazon, eBay and other parts suppliers to comparison shop. You'd be surprised by the variation in parts prices.

Your EPB module could also be the culprit. Mine failed back in April....

In my case it was pretty easy to tell that it was a motor failure and not the module. The noisy motor operation during shutdown told me the module was working but the motor was failing. My indie confirmed my suspicions and problem was resolved with new motor assembly.

But you make a good point, and there's no substitute for a good, methodical diagnostic approach.
