Fast radio recode without the code.
I disconnected the battery on my car a few weeks ago to replace the earth lead clamp. The radio needed the security code to reactivate it, but the code hand written in the owners manual didn't work, wrong code.
I looked online for how to get the radio recoded and they all needed the serial number from the body of the radio which involves a fair bit of work to get at it. I had phoned a local car electronics company to get an idea of what they could do and how much. £35 minimum was the answer.
However by some good luck l found a very easy way to reactivate my radio in seconds. I've just done it without the code by pressing a simple sequence of buttons with the ignition on. It's working and i turned the ignition on and off to make sure it still worked.
Does the forum know about this method? Are there any pitfalls? This may only be relevant to certain years, models or radios.
Its claimed to work for the x type too.

There will inevitably be a master code that Jaguar or the radio manufacturer can use to avoid dismantling and shorting the appropriate pins but I've never seen it.
The easiest way is to ask a Jaguar Dealer for the code. If approached in the right way, they don't charge for this but do require proof of ownership. We've even had a few examples posted on the forum by UK members of getting the information over the phone.
Jaguar have given up on the idea of coded radios for the European market on later models as they can't find anybody who wants to steal one.

That's cool as its on here already and people can find it which tbh I thought it might be. I was just very happy to have done it so easily for free. But of course it still doesn't give me the radio code.

These oem radio and cd players have very little value. A few years ago people had face off stereos. I've had a few like Kenwood and Panasonic. Thieves would steal the face plates and try and sell them which was a waste of time without the matching head unit.
If you've got Satnav & you've used >>, AMEM & PTY together while the PIN screen is shown.
If that works then hold down EJECT & PTY at the same time & it should show you the PIN, not that you'll need it anymore.

Easier to show you. It shows the X type in the video, but it works for the S type too as long as it has the CD player.
Just looked thru the vid, and saw that this only works for later X and S types.
I found this thread using the forum search, and didn't pay attention that it fell under another sub-forum (instead of the X300 forum that I have bookmarked...
I'm looking for a similar solution, however for an X300.
Thanks anyway for your helpful contribution. My bad I didn't get what I asked for...

See attachment, that is my car => view of the radio.
I don't think this will work on my radio, mostly because I don't even have that kind of radio
Biggest problem is that I don't have a jag -garage locally, and I have no problem driving up to one, but as I am no client of theirs, I sincerely doubt they're going to do it for free. And I'm kind of on a budget here... Got more expensive problems to deal with first, however this would make life certainly more enjoyable (having music while working on/driving this car)...

Ah I also didn't realise that you have a different model of car.
Keep looking.
Will do, but I'll browse/search through the forums some more first. Amazing, the wealth of information you find here. I'm quite sure I've got more problems with my jag than I realised before registering here LOL ...
