Default Finally logged 100K miles

Hi all, I recently broke the 100k mile barrier with my 1 owner 2000 3L SE. My father was on hospice so my brother and I drove out from the SF Bay Area to the DFW Texas metroplex to spend time with him beore he passed on. I hadn't driven my Jag on a longer trip in a while and enjoyed the comfort, ride and efficiency of this great car. The car ran faultlessly as it always has for me and was a bright spot during a mission filled with mixed emotions.

I stayed for a week until my dad become comatose . I did the return trip solo as my brother decided to stay in Texas until our father's death. I did the return trip ( ~1700 miles ) in a day and a half without excessive fatigue. I averaged over 30 mpg for entire trip running at the speed limit.

Some of the fondest memories of my dad were of family road trips we took together. My father never owned a luxury or sporty car but I know he would have loved one if he had ever owned one. Fortunately I was able to drive him around a bit in my Jaguars so he could experience a bit of our passion for great cars.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your dad. I lost mine in 1974....

Glad to hear that your 2000 S-Type continues to perform well for you. Here's to another 100,000 miles....

I am sorry for your loss. The fond memories of our family road trips ALWAYS brings a smile to my face, both as a youngster and teenager.

I too am glad to see that the S Type held up well for your road trip. Thanks for sharing.

VMV, condolences. Lost my mom two weeks ago (88 1/2 y.o.). From a very early age my folks took us (8 children) on 3 week camping summer trips from NY, up through and across Canada, dumping down into Washington, across the U.S. back east, hitting all the national parks. They continued this together well into their 70's. Up until my mom passing I picked her up in the STR at assisted living, taking her to lunch. Sharing the memories helps with the sense of loss and keeps the past fresh.

I bought mine from the the dealer in Wichita, and live in San Francisco. 2017 S-AWD convertible with BRG and tan interior. 4200 miles, on a 2017, hardly broken in. But exactly what I wanted. CPO, the price was fair, not great. Much back and forth, dealer answered all my questions, pictures, receipts, etc. I pulled the trigger and bought it sight un seen. I flew to Kansas on a Wednesday and was met at the airport by the dealer valet in a nice Range Rover. Straight to the dealer for inspection and paperwork.
Nice folks, we’ll presented. Everything checked out EXCEPT there were a few paint blemishes that were not revealed. Chips actually, but had been touched up. No Biggy, certainly not enough to fly home.
Deal done, drove to the local hotel and departed on an incredible 1800 mile road trip home.

I have done over 1500 miles since and all is good. What a great car, I’m so happy i held out for exactly what I wanted.. but flying to Kansas and driving home as a real treat. I also bought a boat in Texas two years ago, similar but I drove to Texas, grabbed the boat and drove home. The Jag is great, the boat is great, it all worked out!
