Default Fog Lamp Replacement Question

Hi Guys/Gals,

I'm afraid I know the answer to this question already but I figured I'd ask around. Is there a good/easy way to access the foglights on the S-Type? I have an 03 3.0 and only one fog light is working. I just hate the thought of having to remove all of that under plastic underneath the car just to do a simple fog light swap. It was like that 2 years ago when I bought the car but I just put an HID kit in and am wanting to get the other lights up to par (since they look so dim compared to my hid headlamps). Any and all help is appreciated!

I have a 2005, and if its similar underneath.. just remove the first plastic cover as soon as u get underneath the car (the cover right under the fog lamps) should have screws all around the edge of the bottom of the front bumper and about four across on the other side.. once u remove that, the rear of the fog lamps should be visible

On mine the bolts had rusted to the fasteners and I had to cut them off, reaching in through the wheel arches (wells) having removed their liners (more rusted nuts & bolts!). Complete nightmare as access is rather awkward.

Do you have JTIS?

For the 2003 it lists the procedure. There is NO NEED to remove any under plastic.

The basic steps:
Remove (unclip) the front splitter grill.
Remove (unclip) the side trim (They call in anti-theft trim)
The screws holding the foglamp in will now be exposed.

For a bulb change on the 2005 (2004.5) the process is similar. Again, NO NEED to remove any plastic..

Remove (unclip) the foglamp surround trim.
Reach behind the foglamp and remove the socket.
Change bulb.

Now if you have to remove the foglamp assembly on the 05 and up, you will have to remove the front under-bumper tray or the wheel well liner.

Thanks for the picture Rick..

The 03 procedure in JTIS is very similar.. The only difference is when you pull the trim piece (similar to the one pictured) the early car's fog lamp housing screws in from the front... The 05 and up housing is attached from the back...

Thanks for the replies guys! I don't have JTIS. What is that? I'll take a look at my fog lamps this weekend to see if I have screws or clips.

When I did the HID fog conversion in mine, I dropped the front edge of the belly pan. Just a few screws / bolts and gives you all the access you need to install the bulbs as well as mount the ballasts etc. You realize just how little the fog lights do on this car when you convert them to HID - although it does light up the road in front of you brighter.

It does look alot nicer though...

Take Care,

George

RE: JTIS

Do an E-bay search for "Jaguar Service Manual" it covers up to 2004.

Very useful.

You should be able to pull off (un-clip) a center trim piece, then the two side pieces also un-clip. Once the side trim parts are off (not the same, but similar to the ones Rick posted pictures of) you will see the screws that hold the foglamp unit in. All of this is able to be done from the front of the car.

JTIS download and install directions:

I'm going to do my front fogs when it warms up a bit.

Unless you have a need to pull the whole foglamp, you DO NOT have to drop any of the trays... The trim on the front of the bumper just unclips. Reach your hand in and untwist the bulb socket.. That's it.. You could change the bulbs in a parking lot wearing a business suit....
