It is interesting that there is no such thing as a 2008 S-Type sold or advertised in the UK - the last were sold as 2007 cars, even though they were built at the same time as the "US-2008" cars.
What "year" a car is also is influenced by local law. It is really bizzare but a good example of it is when they made the major update to the S Type.. We all know it as the 2003, but it is known as the 2002.5 in the UK. Also, if you look at the "2004" cars for sale in the UK you will notice that they have the body updates that we see as 2005.

Well, look at the last refresh of the Mustang here in the US... a few months into 2010 and they were selling "2011" Mustangs...

It is all really marketing, and makes it hard on consumers.

Er, if those are stored near B'ham do they need protective film?

IIRC, 2004.5MY was the 2005MY (USA etc) facelift where they messed with a lot of panels.

2004.75MY was the intro of the diesel (non-DPF, then).

Ehrm...it ain't the sun that is rumo(u)red to degrade that wonderful super-plasticized faux shiny metal trim on recent Jaguars. Some claim that it is the gentle showers of crud-enhanced liquids, falling out of the skies, percolating into the lower strata of the plasticizing. Some claim that it is The Stig, relieving himself in the dark. Whatever it is, the sun is totally innocent.

Bumpety, bump, bump. These pieces are STILL sitting in my upstairs dumping room, awaiting anyone who wants to come get them.

I have the entire set of side window bright trim pieces to give away to anyone who wants to come and get them (two of the sections are much too long to bother packing for shipment - and too fragile).

This bright trim is really in nice condition, with only a little of the usual "milky" deterioration apparent if you look at a few sections very intently at the right lighting angle. It just wasn't good enough for my 2008 S-Type, which took the 2011 JCNA National Concours championship in Class D-11 (9.991 avg score). The dealer had replaced this trim with brand-new trim under warranty, so it cost me nothing, and I am passing on the savings.

This is off a post-facelift car, so I am not sure if it will fit the pre-2002 models.

Oh, I am in Aiken, SC (near Augusta, GA).
BUMP - still waiting to give the stuff away.

Vincent,
Are you sure these are what you want for your STR? I thought that most STRs had gloss-black trim - these are the usual shiny bright trim on most other S-Types.
I would be happy to entertain a prepaid box, but it would have to be of a weird shape to fit the long trim pieces: about 54"x14"x4".
Plus I would have no responsibility for how the trim survives the shipping process. Even Jaguar Parts had to ship my replacement trim twice before an undamaged set arrived at the dealership.

Default Yes

To be honest all I'm looking for is the insert tab where located at the ends of each trim that bolts into the door So even if the trim breaks or tabs get broken all I really need is that part.. Looks like it slides out if your gentle with it and I can just reinsert on mine. If nothing gets broken I can have them sanded down and sprayed black

Vincent,
If you really want the trim, send me an e-mail (just click on my "SCMike header" somewhere above), and I will reply with the address to which the 54"x14"x4" (or larger) pre-paid box should be sent. Then I will ship out all eight pieces of trim.

FINAL, final bump - I've re-wrapped the trim pieces in their original Jaguar packaging, and have put all the stuff waaay back in the attic. If no one shows any interest, I will just forget about it. Maybe in a quarter century, an S-Type restorer will stumble over it.

This is getting way too complicated - all I wanted to do was give this trim away for free (no good deed goes unpunished). I'm afraid that I do not want to go to the trouble of finding a shipping box (dimensions in post #36 - yes the trim is back in the original Jaguar plastic packaging, but no box is in hand), determining the shipping cost, then messing with paypal. All for something that I am willing to give away for $0.00. I don't mean to sound stroppy, but my free time is limited. It's back to the attic or personal pickup.
