Default Front End Rattle SOLVED!!

Hey guys quick update on my Drivers Side Front End Rattle.

I have been driven crazy with this terrible front end rattle it sounded like a broken strut or strut mount. As it turns out, my entire belly pan is loose and is rattling against the sub-frame.

Anyone seen this before, is the pan absolutely necessary, or can it be removed completely? I haven't had a chance to get it up on a lift to see if it can be tightened up but was able to see it laying next to the car and moving it with my hand.

Just curious is this is something common, or if anyone has had a similar situation and how you got it fixed...

Thanks in advance guys!

Mine came partway off during a lapping day so I pulled it off the rest of the way. I haven't put it back on since and haven't noticed any negative side effects.

It's got a lot of fixings so I'm puzzled how it cannot be fixed.

The belly pans can be easily cracked by running over large objects in the road. Cracks lead to pieces flying off, which leads to the remaining pieces rattling against the bottom of the car....

Or, careless shops and owners remove the belly pan for an oil & filter change and then do not replace it properly because they lose the various screws and bolts or just don't want to take the time to reattach it correctly. So a belly pan that should be reattached with 9 bolts and screws winds up being reattached with just 5 or 4 or 3 bolts and screws. Before long, vibration and wind shear kick in to pull the plastic belly pan away from its fixings, cracking and breaking the attachment areas and leading to belly pan pieces rattling against the bottom of the car....

Get the idea now?

Oh I got the idea alright! The belly pan on my 03 STR was hanging on by a thread! Sad really, I wish I could be as laid back about paying the shop as they are about putting things back on properly... Maybe I could forget a few "C Notes" when I make my payment...
