Front strut replacement tips
Hey
So I have a swaying movement, especially during lower speeds and when I'm cornering, after hitting a curb a little too hard. This was right before I swapped to summer tires, so I figured I'd wait and see if a tire change and wheel aligment would help, and it didn't. So I am thinking about changing the front struts (2001 S-type 3.0). I noticed that they are electronic, and I have no clue how to go about changing electric ones. I've seen videos on youtube of people replacing non-electronic ones though. I've read some people disconnect the electronic suspension module and just go with non-electric struts.
Any tips and ideas?
Which ones to buy etc?

The X200 has a common fault with the lower ball joints.
They seize and 'unscrew' the nut to the lower control arm.
Jaguar sells the entire vertical link but aftermarket ball joints can be installed.

Thanks, but I don't have these symptoms, my steering is fine. I did check this lower ball joint just now just in case but it was fine. My main symptom is like I mentioned, swaying up and down when cornering. Has to be a front strut.
So original questions still on the table.

I replaced both front struts and one upper control arm on my ‘02. Details here, including some precautions to take:

To replace just the struts, not all of those details will be applicable. Your situation will be slightly different with the electronic struts, but I think the overall process will be similar.
The strut fits inside the coil spring. You will need a spring compressor to separate them. It’s not difficult, but you do need to be careful due to all that energy in a compressed spring.
If you’d rather not deal with that aspect, you may be able to find a shop who will separate them for you for a small fee.
Another option is to find an aftermarket complete spring/strut assembly. These are marketed as a time-saving option for a shop.

How hard did you hit the curb?
Possible damage of some kind since this started after the impact?

So yes I'm leaning that way.

Thank you for the information Karl. Where can I find the proper torque specifications?
