Default Fuel gauge

The fuel gauge on my '03 STR never goes above 3/4. Is there a calibration procedure or is something else wrong? Any ideas.

The range on this thing is bad enough without having to fill up more frequently.

A couple of other STR owners here have reported similar fuel gauge inaccuracies. I believe the fix turned out to be new gauges. Perhaps those guys will chime in here and provide you with complete details....

Does your gauge sit on 3/4 for the first 100 miles or so and then start to drop? How does the 'miles till empty' reading correlate?

I wish it stayed still for 100 miles, at least accurately. It drops rather rapidly, somewhat related to the movement of the pedal on the right. The miles to empty display was fairly accurate, ie within a few miles on a 60 mile highway trip. I've had it showing 0 miles to empty a few times.

It may not be the gauge then. I've got an issue with my non-R that's similar. In the research I've done it might be the left tank sender. Won't know till I can get the car back on the road next month, if the snow ever melts.

I'm thinking that it's just not getting filled up. I've tried to "stuff it", but the most I can get in, when it's showing 0 to empty, is 13.2 gallons. I've bravely put at least 5 miles on it when is shows 0.

You may want to crawl underneath and look at the bottom of both gas tanks. They're not far from the jacking pads where the car is supported while on a two post lift.

Bear in mind the reserve, which is still there when 0 first shows. But even more bear in mind that the pumps are fuel-cooled and not cheap to replace if cooked!

Look up ETM (see below) and in there you can see the 2 senders. Fill to full, use ETM, they should read similar (and I think it's near 255). Rock car and watch them to get an idea whether they're seeing sloshing. If one's a bit low I suppose if it doesn't move much then probably a bad sensor but if it moves around quite a bit then it's just not full.

TBH I just fill as needed. It's an R so fuel vanishes...

Could be the jet pump. I had a similar problem and the dealer replaced it and all was good.
