Default fuel pump disconnect tabs ???

This on my 2000 s-type, looking to press tabs on fuel pump connection lines and no tabs, looks like to me at the base of the elbow at the lid is a spinner type disconnect that you turn and pull up on the elbow. Is this correct, am I missing something, has a raised plastic piece at the end of the line as it goes into the elbow, trying to stay out of trouble on this job.

The tabs are near the elbow on the fuel line and one is red and one white (from memory) and they are near where the lines enter the top cover. You do not "turn and pull up." They do spin around but do not need to be in a specific placement. The tabs need to be pressed in and at the same time push down to disconnect. If the fuel line won't come up then it helps if you have a piece of wood under the lines and close to where the lines go into the fuel cover so as not to damage the connectors and lines (not too much pressure). This wood is meant to put a small amount of upward pressure on the line while you press down. The reason for this is that you will have both hands in use one squeezing the tabs and one pressing down on the line. You may hear the line click when you press down on it and then it should release (upwards).

If the tabs are missing (on my parts car this was the case on one of the lines) I was lucky enough to force it off. But this was more luck as they need to be pressed down to release.

This will make more sense when you are attempting to disconnect the lines.

I hope this helps and good luck
Paul

Thanks Paul, glad I waited for a reply, I would have spent all day pulling -up- on the lines.

Enjoy your summer.

Got on off, say again how you forced one off without breaking it. I'm lost

Well, the new motor in installed in the fuel pump, working well. Never did get the one line off, had to cut it and splice with double clamps and fuel injector line It had a filter (canister type) in the tank???
This is not an easy job, tabs are impossible, thanks again to Paul792 down under (Australia).
