Small raw gas smell has increased to anytime heater is turned on ..now very strong... Recently replaced defrost motor so air blowing on windshield and order is coming thru all vents .. some gas smell when outside the car when running .. any possible location that could be the culprit?

You have a leak somewhere and you need to get to a shop with a gas detector. The odor is coming though the air intake in the cowl, but leak is in the fuel system. Good luck with it.

Wordman-
I've never experienced this myself but I just need to clarify something.

Is the smell actually a Gasoline smell or a smell like burnt exhaust? My STR has not have a blower motor issue as of yet but did it require the removal of the cowl or anything that seals the inside from the outside?

Last question..do you have a Check engine light on? If so have you read the codes? ( I know that was two questions but what the heck)

I assume you're referring to fuel/petrol but do you get any burnt oil or exhaust fume smells?

Either way, the foam seals around the cabin filter assembly in the engine bay would have well and truly perished by now so not only engine bay smells will be entering the cabin but also the engine bay heat will be entering as well.
I've just renewed all the seals on my cabin filter assembly as I had enough of the extra heat and breathing in burnt oil smells off the dried oil that had accumulated on the exhaust manifold heat shield before I changed both cam cover gaskets.
It's a bit tricky to get back the proper factory seal as some of the foam needs to be stuck in a certain way and some of the foam needs to hang loose and folded over on reinstallation of the two part assembly.
I have taken plenty of photos and intend to post soon.
We drive on the correct side of the road here but I assume the foam seal set up will just be a mirror image.
Haven't seen too much on anyone fixing this problem nearly all cars will have/will soon have by now.
Fixing this though will only eliminate you breathing this in and not the problem.

Additional information. Yes it is a gas smell, not any burnt oil or other odor. Just replaced catylitic converters and 4 O2 sensors ..no codes ...will move forward as a gas leak appears to be most likely cause to investigate first ..thank you again

I don't know if this is relevant but I had cause to drop my fuel tank last year and was shocked to how poor the rubber was on the breathers on top of the tank were. They had all started to perish and was only a matter of time until they fell apart . I replaced them to be safe . They are also visible through the 2 covers under the rear seat . I just putting this out there as it possibly cause a petrol smell in the car if they split .
