Update....

Took off the passenger front setup off the car last night. I'm having trouble locating a spring compressor that will work with this setup. I did the loan a tool ones from autozone, but they don't want to work with this setup. They look similar to this:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...equestid=36742

Anyone have any suggestions on a spring compressor for this type of setup? Ideally, a rent a tool type setup would be perfect since I only plan on doing this once or twice...

That set is exactly what I used. It helps to have an extra set of hands and lots of cold beer...

How'd you guys fit the curved part of the tool between the spring coils? There's only one or two coils on mine that I can fit the tool through. Maybe I need to use something to spread the coils enough for me to get the spring compressor between the coils. I guess it does help to have an extra set of hands.

Also, so once the coil is squeezed down a bit, so then you just undo the nut at the top? Does that release the top plate?

You have to take the 2 ends off the threaded rod......slide them in and spin them down from the top to the bottom......put the threaded rod back on and tighten one side a lil' then the other, back n forth until you get all hte pressure off the top nut, the undo the top nut, and slowly back the springs off......the reverse to process to put the new ones on.......

Cool

...what Riski said - that's how it's done with this type of spring compressor - an extra set of hands doesn't hurt - be sure to use the locking pins - once ya done one the rest get easier - be careful with the electrical connections on the top of the struts - torque everything to specs - get the car aligned to factory specs with the fronts at 0.00 toe-in (a later spec after it was discovered front tires wore on the inside at 0.05 toe-in per side)

A little caution - at speeds over 100mph don't stab the brakes cause the second time ya do it the car will bottom out as in two quick stabs to scrub off some speed - the brembos really pull down the front end with a quick stab and another quick stab slams it down on the frame tightening your sphincter muscle in dramatic fashion - seriously...

This advice is worth exactly what ya paid for it.

thanks guys. I paid too much attention to the instuctions on the tool and not enough thinking on my part. I'm going to work on them tonight and hopefully get the car done(the lowering part).

got the front right all wrapped up today. The reinstall was a piece of cake. I'll try to knock out the other three wheels this Friday.

seriously! I'm going all kinds of different directions! I really need to get the blower off and in the mail to get ported. I'm guessing I'll try to finish that up today so that it can be in transit over the weekend. After that, then my sole focus will be getting the car lowered and alky injection system installed.
