One little bit of advice. You're new here so will be forgiven, but complimenting me is considered a major breach of forum etiquette. The old-timers will attest it makes me even more insufferable than usual.
K, did you forget that complimenting you will flood the forum making it useless for what it is for? Lacking insight and knowledgeable experience?
No problem making heat! Set on HI with AC off, driver’s vent is 211. Passenger’s is 200.
How did your Sauna on Wheels adventure go? Maybe you could have dried some beef jerky on the drive, to take advantage of all that surplus heat.
Got to thinking your thermometer must be reading way high, for some reason. Infrared thermometers can be affected adversely by shiny surfaces, for example. That would have to be one VERY efficient heater to reach 211F. From my limited experience, the highest I've ever recorded on any vehicle is about 140F.
I keep one of these pocket thermometers clipped in the center vent and it works very well for monitoring system output:
I leave it installed to keep an eye on the HVAC performance. This is a Taylor #6091-1 and the max 120F range works well for automotive use. I previously had one that went to 220F, but that left a band that was fairly narrow to display the expected temperatures. I also like that 40F is straight up, which makes for an easy visual check with the AC running, as ideally you want to see about 38F. No squinting to see the numbers, I just go by the needle position.
Yes, yesterday’s trip was rather toasty. Thank god the windows partially open made it bearable!
had the same concern so I bought two thermometers this morning and repeated test one. Much lower temperatures but the same general results. The drivers side is much too high when the setting is on lo. I think the passenger side is probably a little high as well. It only read 85 degrees when set on lo but the ambient temperature is only 47. So, is the NEW DCCV faulty? Is the “repaired” control module faulty? Is the wiring faulty?
I guess it’s time to do the electrical tests (my Achilles heel) when I return from this trip and the Christmas/New Years dust settles. Interesting photos. The laser temperature gun reads much higher!
