Just pm'd Gus but if anyone else knows how to get the eft sensor off it would be helpful. Doesn't have threads to turn. Just has a little rubber gasket and a spring around the base. Don't know if I should try to pull it out by force or if there is some trick with the spring

Can you post up a picture of the new EFT? Might help in figuring it out, without the plastic protective cover.

Disconnect battery ground.

Follow Gus's post #20 as far as depressurizing the system.

Remove air outlet tube.

Detach the spring lock coupling safety clip.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

Remove the fuel temperature sensor.

i got as far as the remove temp sensor but not sure how to get it off. it doesn't unscrew. Just has the spring at the base. Just need confirmation if I need a special tool or if i can just pull it off with a little force.

There is a spring unlock clip on the fuel line going in but not on the sensor itself.

It looks like now that you have the clip removed all you need to do is twist the unit a little as you push it out. Be sure to unplug it first.

Thanks Gus, I just posted another thread as you answered this one, There wasn't a clip on it. Just the connector. I've spun it and twisted it, tapped it and it won't budge.

After digging more into the jtis I have found that this is called a spring lock coupling and it requires a special tool to take off and put on. I hope I didn't damage anything

Good news is that the red tool worked like a charm. Just trimmed down the edge a little bit. Got it back on and and everything put back together in 5 mins. Bad news is I cleared the check engine light and after a couple If restarts the light came back again with the same code. P0182. Now I'm stuck.

Did you try to do a hard reset?

I do this by pulling the ground cable from the battery, turn the key on and turn the lights on and blow the horn. Turn the key and lights off and reattach the battery cable after 5 or 10 min. The process is to clear the memory in the CPU in the car.

Weird. But I'll give it a shot. At first I thought you were kidding.

It's a bit overkill. The idea is to make sure the capacitors are all fully discharged so that learned values in volatile memory are cleared.
