Default Is the hub assembly on a 02 s-type the same as a 02 lincon ls?

hi, can anyone tell me if the front driver side wheel hub assembly with sensor the same as the one as a 2002 lincon ls? I need a front hub assembly for my 02 s-type. Also, are the wheel speed sensors the same? thank you!

Many parts are interchangable between the LS and S Type between 2000 - 2002 but I don't believe the wheel hub assembly is one of those parts - I checked www.rockauto.com the SKF hub assembly part number is the same - the other manufacturers have different part numbers between both models.

Speed sensors are not interchangable between the LS and S Type.

Maybe?....

I have been in your shoes. It takes about 20 minutes to remove the front hub assembly if its not seized due to rust. Then hit any big box auto parts store that has a Timken or SKF in stock and match them up. There is a difference in MYs (Model Years), trust me been there "done that".

Do a search on "wheel hub" by "joycesjag" in the "S Type" advanced search.

I've had success with the SKF hub unit - good quality. If you order it from www.rockauto.com you can get a 5% discount - Use 9595c4d4b2ac - in the how did you hear about us box - I believe the hub is $126 before the discount...

hey thanks for the info.... I just ordered the hub assembly. It was 130 with shipping. Not bad at all. Just wanted to ask you, I am getting a knocking noise when I am driving and hit bumps I hear a knocking noise under the car, I am pretty sure it is in the front. Shocks you think? or maybe the hub?

Could be shocks, ball joints, anything loose or worn within the front suspension. If the knocking noise is "driven" or increases as you accelerate - it's probally the hub. Not that sure on the knocking coming from the shocks. You can press up and down on the front of the car to test the shocks.

Do you have CATS (computerized) shocks or standard?

Change the sway bar bushings first.

Easy to check. Unhook the front sway bar end links. Drive where you normally hear the clunks. If no noise then it's the bushing. While you are there change the end links too. They will be worn out even if not making noise!

Another well known problem on the 1999-2002 cars.
