Hi chilefish,
Interesting question!
Tires will be a factor, and whether the race is a straight drag or involves curves....
Since Dad's should never lose to their teenage sons, here are some tips for improving your odds:
1. Temporarily short the power button of his A/C system so he cannot turn it off. Turn off your own A/C.
2. If it's a drag race, let a little air out of your rear tires and add 10 psi to his. If the race involves curves, lower his front tire pressure by 5 psi and increase his rear pressure by 5 psi to increase the understeer of his car.
3. Offer to gas up his car and secretly fill it with 87 octane. Run your car to nearly empty and add just a couple of gallons of 93 octane.
4. While you're filling his tank, cover nearly the entire surface of his air filter with duct tape.
5. Remove the spare tire from your car. Put it in his trunk.

Cheers,
Don
