Default I want to replace my water pump with a high flow electric pump

Does anyone know if it is possible or know of someone that makes an aftermarket water pump to replace the stock pump. I want to lessen the drag on the motor and etc.

Electric water pumps are a false economy and you'll gain nothing. The mechanical energy used by the belt and pulleys to drive the pump is only 1-2 HP to start with. If you substitute an electrical pump, you'll just add approximately the same HP load to the alternator- no net gain.

IOW- It's extremely inefficient to convert gasoline to mechanical power to drive an alternator with a belt and pulley to create electricity to drive a motor. Much simpler to just drive the pump directly with existing pulley and belt.

+1 as Mikey pointed out - install a good quality water pump.. preferably with the metal fins, opposed to the plastic ones.

If you check out some past threads you will find that respected techs such as Brutal specifically warn against the metal impeller versions.

Ill equate the metal fin designs ive seen to a paddle wheel boat. The plastic curved one to a nuclear submarine prop. They both flow water, But the flat metal impellors BEAT the water to death. The early ones got a bad rap that seems to continue even onto the later ones that do not have the same issues.
The choice is still yours

The only thing an electrical water pump is good for is 1/4 mile runs (still even iffy at that point). Drag racers use them to be able run water through a motor without it being on between runs (that is what I use it for on the Shelby).
