Default Jaguar holding back at 3000 rpm

New to Jaguar but have just bought a 2000 3lt V6 S type.It drives fine and idles and performs well but I am having a problem with it holding back and jerking a little at 3000 revs but clears if you put your foot down a little,engine runs great with no smoke or noises and no warning lights are on,cant figure what the problem would be ??? hope somebody can help

Hello Richard, welcome to the forum.

Are you able to the codes read? There are many possibilities at this point but, there is one thing that does come to mind and it is the rubber vacuum elbow located under the lower intake manifold. Check the link out in this thread:

What year is it?

Probably is as above but might be an O2 sensor.

My car is a 2000 V6 auto,and as I said it only holds back at about 3000 rpm, its ok before and if you accelerate or use kick down it stops ???

Chances are it's one of the vacuum hoses. You could hunt around with OBD to see if there are any clues with LTFTs but if you haven't done those hoses you're on borrowed time anyway.

Also, could be a coil and you're covering up a misfire. Get a flashing MIL and you have a really bad misfire but till then you only sometimes get codes.

Many thanks for the replys.I have noticed that the car needs a service as the oil is pretty dirty along with the air filter.I see changing the plugs is a manifold off job,so what would you need apart from plugs,filters and oil for a service ??? seals and things while you have everything off,and anything that might help my holding back problem while its in bits ?
