Unfortunately sarcasm happens in all forums I've have been on. Just let it go and move on. But, back to your problem, you changed the fluid and flushed the transmission as I suggested early on. Didn't fix the problem, but needed done anyway. Next as suggested above is to find out if codes are set. My guess now would be a failing module. Codes may give a clue as to which one. When you turn the ignition off and the back on, it is like a computer or router reboot. Get the codes read, if you don't have a reader it shouldn't cost much just for that.

Also when I select n whilst moving then back to drive problem seems to rectify itself for a few miles. As stated, car drives then seems to die, either give it more revs, kick down then drive is presumed or select neutral then back to drive. Either problem with engine or box. Is any of what I'm saying possible? There's no engine or auto box codes lights on dash.

Most gearbox faults flag codes. No codes usually means it's not a gearbox fault, though you can have marginally low fluid. Even a $5 OBD tool can read the 1998-2002 (USA) codes. Most common fault is failing battery or other fault causing poor power. Next most common may be the stretched shifter cable.

Complaining about sarcasm etc when someone can't be bothered to find out and post the codes strikes me as daft. You want help for free - post the data.

This. This. And only this.

You are wasting your time without reading the fault codes.

Hi jagv8, would you by chance know which cheap obd2 scanner will work with my 2001 jag stype as I bought one but it does not communicate with ECU. I believe I need the correct obd reader with the correct protocol and pins... But after searching eBay and forums, I cannot decide which one will do as most comment say any of the cheap obd2 will work but these guys have 2002 jags or newer and that's the problem mines is pre2002. Is it obd eobd obd2, the one I have is advanced obd2 which is Bluetooth and using apps on my phone/tablet like torque but just doesn't speak to car. Even though no engine or autobox warning lights are on, I'd like to see live data etc. See if can see a problem that isnt getting flagged.
This is the obd2 reader I purchased http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/271586760797?txnId=1453430975017

They all should do. Your car is standard OBD II. Sadly some readers are junk.

No, an auto box can't do that.

Thankyou for ruling that out. So it must be an engine problem that isn't showing any lights on dash.

It would be very helpful if you could post trouble codes. Until then it's all conjecture, sarcastic or well intentioned, but conjecture nevertheless.

I can vouch for the OTC 3109N Scan tool.

http://amzn.com/B00C2FKPCY

It reads reliably and doesn't set a false P1642 like many cheap scan tools do.

Good luck

We don't see a lot of P1642 - last time was over 3 years ago. May not have been the tool even then.

I'd be reluctant to spend $100 on that tool.

My scanner picked up the code P0775 - pressure control solenoid B. Would this be something that can be replaced or would anyone recommend a whole solenoid block pack? Thanks in advanced.

Fastest way to get answers is to Search on the code or better Advanced Search just this forum.

Thanks JagV8, it's not as simple as just replacing the solenoid. Reading what others have gone through, looks like theres a couple of diagnostic steps I should take proir. As I do my oil change, going to inspect the transmission and clean up any dirt/grease for starters.
