I read your question already two days ago. Since then I am permanently checking, if someone has an answer for you...

...because I have similar problems like:
1. Auto-lock of all door as soon as the car moves. (on one of my S-Types, not on the other one, where this nonsense coincidentally stopped after a professional locksmith programmed
the S-Type to recognize 2 more remotes).
2. Again something, which one S-Type of mine does, the other does not: After unlocking the car and opening the door the driver's seat drives backwards,
which annoys my wife, as this means that she cannot put her bag behind the driver's seat, as it would get squashed.

In my opinion my "Problem 1" and my "Problem 2", just like your problem, are things, which can be rectified by connecting a forbiddingly expensive "computer programming device"
to the S-Type, operated by a professional, who knows, what he is doing and setting all those various parameters/settings as required by the customer.

The problem I have with that solution is, that the next shop, which may be possibly be able to do this is either 180km or 320km away from where I live, plus it would be forbiddingly expensive.
Hence, I cannot see a solution other than living with the settings an S-Type has.

But if someone out there knows a simple or non-expensive way (i.e. which device from a cheap online seller can do it?), I would like to hear about it...

I believe auto-locking (on drive away) can be disabled through IDS/SDD. If your door isn't locking/stays locked I suggest it's the door lock.

As my car has driver memory on the seat & moves back to make more room, i suggest putting the knob in manual adjust before removing the ignition key & it'll stay put. Your wife can then put her bag behind, get in the car & press her memory setting (or turn the knob to auto & press it.

Re-read your post. Your car's probably set to unlock just the driver's door with one press & all doors with two presses. This can be altered with a button pressing sequence on the fob to one press unlocks all. A search should turn up the procedure.

Encouraged by USER 42324's idea that there might be something / some knob to rectify my "dancing seat" issue, when I open the door, I searched the net again, coming across keywords like "seat convenience mode", and I finally found the answer: There is a round knob on the left of the steering column (so, pretty low on the dashboard) and there are the options "auto" and "column". I changed it from "auto" to "column', which ended the never ending "seat dance-party". Great - one problem less - an important one, because while my wife loves that S-Type, she hates the musical-chair dance every time she want to enter the car...

I just whish there would be equally easy solutions for the auto-door-locking issues.
But for all I know that can sadly only be modified by a specialist with an expensive device (computer), who will charge an arm and a leg for this little modification...

Glad to help. I would've been clearer about the control knob switching between auto adjustment (memory settings) & manual. I assumed you knew about it as you have memory seats. My mistake.

Yea... - no. I did not know about that "switch over to manual knob" (where "manual" is called "column", which does not make it any easier), which is why I did not know how to stop the musical chair party each time you open the door... But not it's all good. Thanks.

I only just told my wife about the good news (I fixed it last night and it is morning here now). After I told her she initially slapped herself a few times first making sure she is not dreaming (but awake already), and then I had to tell her another 2 times... She said, I "made her month" (not just day)...

I really do not know, what Jaguar was thinking, when they added that feature: It's highly annoying and it is eating up the battery...

Technically it's a manual adjustment knob - mine also has adjustable pedals (specced with that but not front parking sensors, go figure). Get your seat, steering wheel, pedals & mirrors how you like them & save them as a memory setting. Switch to auto & press a 'mem' button to restore your settings. You know the column adjusts in & out as well as up & down, right ?

I believe the mem settings restored by the car can be keyfob dependant too. Haven't tried as it's just me that drives it.

EDIT:- Added an s to mirrors.

Yes, thanks, I knew about the memory setting of mirrors and seat (mem & 1 or 2), and I knew also about that button left of the steering wheel to adjust the column (but I never used it, as the column was just right). I just did not know about the auto-feature-switch-off as described above...
