Default Max Wheel Size for the S-Type

Hi guys,
Just looking to re-new all my tyres but im thinking of changing to a different wheel/Alloy type, abit more showy if you get me.
What would be the biggest wheel size you would be able to get away with on the S-Type including depth.

Largest.... sanely or insanely?

And in the UK..... insured or uninsured? Be sure to tell your insurer!!

(With our roads.... don't go too big or the ride will be awful and you'll have to keep replacing wheels.)

I'm happy with our 17-inch wheels with the recommended 235/50R17 tires at about 34 psi all the way around. The car glides perfectly during its highway cruiser duties....

I hate those Conestoga wagon wheels with the rubber-band-thickness tires. I've never understood why people want to double or triple their tire-and-wheel costs to wind up with tires that may last 20,000 miles if you baby them but more likely 12,000 to 15,000 miles at best....

I'll gladly take the smooth ride and far less costly normal wheels and tires any day of the week....

I had 20s on my non-STR, but they weren't 10" wide...IF they do fit, tire size and offset will have a huge factor...

Perhaps these questions will come to mind...

I drive a jaguar...a great car and brand. Do I want to "F" it up by getting gangsta and tarnishing the ride quality while adding stress to the front end and braking system of the car, which could add more money in car repairs versus bigger wheel/tires.......I know from experience!!. I now understand why you have to have your new wheel tire package within the same wheel diameter measurements as your factory setup wheels. Please don't mess up your jaguar. That picture above of the car sitting on 24's?...I'll hold my peace.

Sarcasm aside, I'm guessing here you'd need a custom wheel which even at a deal would be $2000 rim and $500 a tire...Even if you went conservative up front with a matching 19x7 aren't we talking at least $7000 in wheels and tires? The top of the line STRs can be had for like $15000 (facelift is 2005+)...I just don't understand how one could spend that much on wheels for a relatively cheap car...What you can find at a deal on ebay is 20x10 for the rear and a little skinner in the front...

All I have to say is...
To each their own...
Some People kids...

And NOBODY on here will have the answers like 24s, (OMG WTF that vid just made me cry a bit) 20x10 or 19x12 because NOBODY has, or ever will put them on a S-Type on here. I have 18x10s on my truck with a 305/45 tire, and they're friggen FAT, and $350 a piece at best. Oh and they will tear up the 1/4 mile, but will get stuck in wet grass. 20x10 is huge, 19x12's, you'll probaly have to tub the car. lol

So I guess the best answer I can give you, or anybody on here for that matter is if you really want to do it, then go to a custom wheel shop and have them FIT TEST or measure for custom application. That is the cheapest most accurate way to find your answers. Or buy with a good return policy.

Good luck.
