Default My first oil change on the 4.2 S Type

Greetings!
Time for my first oil change on the 2005 S Type 4.2 84K and I want to service it myself. I read the threads and it does not seem to be a big deal but I question what type of oil to use. The manual says Castrol 5W30 is preferred with 0W30, 0W40 and 5W40 acceptable. The threads talked a lot about beef tallow and left me rather confused. Previous owner was using Motocraft synthetic blend 5W30 with oil changes at 5,000 miles. I have heard in the past that if you have been using a synthetic blend you should stick with it, any thoughts? Also the owners manual says 10K between oil changes. Is this pushing it a little? My previous Mercedes C280 Sport ran on European spec 0W40 and I changed the oil every 10K. When I sold it with 227K on it the engine was still running strong with no abnormal consumption. Seeing that the same engine was used in the Lincoln as the S Type I am wondering if Motocraft would be a good choice? Thanks in advance for any and all input.

If I saw that I'd assumed I'd accidentally clicked on a cooking site. No idea what you might read. Beef tallow?

False, old wive's tale.

10K is quite conservative on modern cars. 15K is becoming the standard.

Use it if that brand pleases you. There is little or no difference from one brand to the next, essentially the car couldn't care less.

Pick the viscosity that best suits your climate and you'll be fine.

10K will be fine.

Any oil that meets the min spec WSS-M2C913-B also fine, go with 5W30 if that's the right one for your region. Car really doesn't care whether fully synthetic or not.

I Used Castrol synthetic blend 5w30. Be prepared to have 7 quarts on hand and
watch the youtube video by Vance about pulling down your belly pan. Went to
change mine and no belly pan. Was surprised how much oil is in this engine.
Almost double my other V6 engines.

Use Mobil 5-30 extended performance full synthetic, use a WIX brand oil filter, one of the best. I change every 3000 miles, or at least once a year, which ever comes first. I know they say you only have to change oil every 7000 - 10000 miles, but oil is cheap insurance.

It's 10,000 miles or every 12 months whichever is sooner so you look good to go.

Beef dripping makes the best chips, but I'd avoid it in engine oil.

Neither using synthetic oil nor changing it more frequently than OEM spec has proven to have had much effect one way or another, so it's money wasted other than making the owner feel better.
