Default Need Independent Shop in N. NJ USA

I'm looking for a seasoned independent shop that will know how to work on my 2005 S-Type R.

I want to change my transmission fluid as well as find the leaks under the engine which are probably either transmission or oil cooler lines.

Hudson, Bergen and Morris counties are prefered.

Thks.

How far are you from Hamilton Square? Forum member George Androulakis and his brother own an indie shop and George specializes in Jaguar, BMW, and Mercedes vehicles....

Is he still doing that? Last time I spoke to him he was doing IT work?

It's an hour and 25 min away so I'd have to hang around for the work to get done ... but maybe for a diagnosis? Long distance service shops are difficult.

Thanks for reminding me of him. Is he still active on here?

I think I'll check these guys out in Tenafly - Udo's Automotive.

Some good comments from Jag owners.

Staatsof, I am in the same situation as well. I'm in Bergen County, too. I found a few shops in our area:
Motorcraft Ltd.
Paterson Ave, East Rutherford
Bryan Maletsky, owner
(201)935-3431

Marota's Motors
727 Lafayette Ave
Hawthorne
(201)-345-4429

Paul Maletsky
673 Passaic Ave
West Caldwell
(973)-575-8737
Motorcraft Ltd is closest to me, but it looks as if they work more on classic cars than current ones, not sure.

I didn't find Udo's....

Yes I know. I even made a set of rubber jack pads for his jag years back but he IS a long ways away. But if I need WDS that's a possibility. I think this is just a hose replacement/repair situation albeit with a perhaps a lot of labor. I'll be at Udo's today or tomorrow for a look see at my problem. I might just do this myself. I just spent 1K on the Suburban for new front hubs, brakes, hoses etc so some cost savings would be nice. If it involves a lot of removal of those fragile plastic components then I might be a lot more careful than a mechanic who isn't paying for the job himself!

We'll see.

Udo's is off the list for me.
I didn't get very far as they couldn't get the car up on the lift WO also catching the plastic rocker panels while lifting it!

I tried using my hockey puck pieces but the service tech said just no that he couldn't list the car and promptly backed out of the garage and that was that.

Now I get to see how much damage they did.

They were very friendly and nice before that but I think the tech just got ticked off. Well I don't need that sort of attitude!
