Default New thermostat, engine does not heat

Hello, i am having a rather strange problem with makes me crazy.
My 2.7D does not want to heat up, now that is winter. I just replaced the thermostat and still nothing... after 5 miles of driving the needle barelly starts to go above the blue line.
Any clues to what else could be the problem ?

What MY is your vehicle? Have you checked the operation of the DCCV?

Here is a link to a thread that explains the functioning of the HVAC system:

You may also want to post your enquiry on the UK/Eire forum as most members here are from North America where JLR never offered a diesel variant of the S-Type.

Diesels heat up slowly. That's why Jag added the FBH but it's probably not cold enough for it to go on.

A few thoughts, in no particular order.

As others have mentioned, diesels are very slow to heat up. Have you only been putzing around town on short trips? I wonder what happens with a longer trip at freeway speed.

There's no guarantee your new thermostat is good. I've had some that were defective right out of the box. It's happened enough that I'll now test a new thermostat before installation. Just heat a big pot of water on the stove and keep track of the temperature when the thermostat opens. Test the old one for comparison, too.

Check the temperature at the thermostat housing with an infrared thermometer. Make sure of the actual temperature in case that's fine and you've only got an indication issue.

I think Jaguar don't officially use that particular meaning - not too sure about their employees, though!

Did you bleed the air out of the system? Temp sensors don't work with air around them, only with liquid do they work correctly.
