Default O2 choice ?

I need a downstream O2 sensor.. Just checking ebay for prices,, I see mostly Bosch, Denso , Walker and prices from $38 (no name) to over $200 for one name brand. Any advice here ? The shop wants over $300 to install one and I just happily paid them $800+ for coils and plugs. (2 coils bad/changed them all) I think I can change this O2 out myself.. Thanks for any help on choice of part..

The system is a Denso system. They are some of the most reasonable priced as well.

I've never had a problem with a Denso replacement sensor. Had to put a couple of them in my wife's now long-gone 2000 Lexus RX300 SUV way back in 2004. No issues at all after replacement....

Just be sure to shop around for the best deal....

And being downstream(s) they'll be the cheaper-technology non-wideband (non-linear) kind.

Get the part number you want and check Amazon and Rock Auto too.

ZenFly,

That part number looks correct. The Denso Part Finder is a good place to confirm part numbers:

Find My Part | DENSO Auto Parts

Cheers,

Don

I'm bring this back up.. I changed the sensor with the correct part and turned off the ck engine light... Well the light is back on with the same code so I'm thinking it's the catalytic converter that isn't functioning.. I've only had this car for 3mos and 2000 mi and it runs great. I read up on this a bit before doing anything and seem to remember that fouled plugs and injectors can cause this condition but they check out good.. Any thoughts ? Thanks

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

Thats From my iCarsoft tester... I also got the test from the best shop here Eurotec who said "the downstream sensor bank 1 needs to be replaced" and gave me a price of a little over $300 to replace it.. I bought the part off ebay for $59 and it took 10 min to put in. The light stayed off longer than with the old one.

I just read another thread here from 2012 that you (JagV8)helped on also where the dealer R&R price was $3500 for both. Some posts there mention after market cats and a muffler shop.. . one post there mentioned Magnaflow (I think) .. What do you think about after market cats ? any suggestions on brand ?

Go to a decent muffler shop and have them take a look. Some shops will not charge you for their initial analysis. Poke around on the web, check their online reviews, make some phone calls, then select the shop you find to be the most trustworthy....

Before you do anything I would swap your O2 sensors just to make sure the code stays on that side. You never know plus it's very easy on the S Type.

I would use an aftermarket cat and there are plenty of them to choose from.
