Default Parrot Mki9200 Compatible

Would anyone happen to know if the Parrot Mki9200 Bluetooth Kit is compatible with S-Type's ? I have the factory Apline system without navigation. I'm sick of CD's, yes I could buy an aftermarket receiver with Bluetooth but I want to keep the factory look. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks !

The parot is junk ! I'm unsure if your unit is d2p fiber optic
But if it is you need the (veff box)
Go to this link and scroll to post #44

Be awere it does not support hands free for your phone !
But is worth every penny to have clear bluetooth music streeming to your alpine !
You can always add the jaguar Bluetooth phone modual to the car aswell for your phone calls , there are a few ways , I saw mentioned that the veff box can come with aux cable input so you can add a jabees phone comparable blutooth reciever/mike and go that way to get phone and music in to the d2p fiber input ! Any ways talk to Vefframov about it . He will put you right !!

For a point of view diametrically opposed to that of Datsports', here are a few Bluetooth threads I've commented on regarding the Parrot MKI-9200 fitted to an 03 S-Type, non premium audio version, non Nav car. I thought I'd posted a how-to on the install, but apparently not. I distinctly recall making a PDF... may be able to find it if you are interested.

There are others, but you get my drift...
The key to level-of-difficulty and ease of integration is whether or not you have the premium sound option. If not, smooth sailing! If so, you have some decisions to take regarding how you want to integrate it.

i read "wants to keep the factory look" the parrot is a messy install with screens and toggles stuck to the dash and or steering wheel , and has an inferior underpowered 20w amp , nowhere near the sound of the alpine running good speakers, id rather have the factory look too . and the jaguar amp running my pioneers , enjoy your parrot they are a great idea but not the one!

In the eye of the beholder, I suppose. I must've got the "bargain" MKI-9200, as it only had the single screen and a single remote, not toggles, singular nor plural. IF by "Alpine" the OP means he has the premium sound option, you are correct on the amp, but I'm reasonably certain the 20W is about 4X or so the power of the base head unit fitted to my S-types.

Likewise, I wish you full enjoyment of your solution (even though it doesn't support phone audio - I guess that saves the "messy install" of routing the mic-wire, eh?) But for me, any device that connects phone to car entertainment system must accommodate full functionality of the phone.
Wish I could find a more durable cassette tape adapter for my X300.....on my third or fourth, now...

shame about the tape decks failing , i have a lot of old tapes and nothing i trust to put them in at all. mine has the cruddy mini disk player I've no use for that ,my iPhone has hands free speaker and the jag is so quiet it works fine ,
also the mike is factory wired and fitted in the roof console of the s type ready to talk to your module when installed , in fact you can test it to see if it works in advanced diagnostic setting on the nav stereo setup ! i will look in to the jabees bluetooth in to aux in as i have one already for my bike it was $30 it is a god send , just no aux in on the veff box as yet to run it in the car, it controls my iPhone from the tiny stand alone bluetooth unit on the collar of my jacket ,here are the factory alpine out put specs , note the ten speaker out put is premium and is because it has 2 channels to the each of the four door speakers ,high pass and low pass
obversely not the case with the four speaker standard setup .
USA Factory System Offerings:

4-Speaker, 120-watt Alpine Standard Audio System
10-Speaker, 180-watt Alpine Premium Audio System
10-Speaker, 320-watt Alpine Premium Sound System with DSP
definitely a lot more than 20watt rms on all options

plus the veff box uses the steering wheel & head unit controls and if fitted the nav touch screen to rewind , skip , pause the iPhone and other smart phones, also the volume can be controlled by phone , steering wheel . head unit , and touch screen . and the steering wheel phone/mute button also works and if you have the bt phone module fitted it will kill the music and hook your call up to radio and factory mike. very tidy indeed.

I think the OP needs to say what year car. He may or may not have D2B.

Dats, in my case it's not the tape deck that fails, but rather the tape adapter with 3.5mm plug I use in the X300 in lieu of any sort of BT solution. Either the wires give out right at the plug, or the tape body gets funky and causes the deck to auto-reverse constantly. Right, with the phone in a Ram-mount pointed toward me in the driver's seat, directly in front of the center air-vent, tape adapter with wire going up and over the mirror and back down to the phone, the phone mic is perfectly adequate for hands-free use and the audio comes out of the car's system. I've not had any complaints of outgoing voice quality nor problems being understood. DO have to turn fan-speed down if just fired-up after an all-day hot-soak, but I've had problems on long trips with an older phone running NAV, screen always on, and other functions running, plugged in the whole time, it would bleed to 10%-20% Batt and stay there - due to the phone running above 110 deg F where it won't charge..will stay alive, but is of limited use when you reach destination. So now it's a habit, whether necessary or not, I always mount the phone where it will get cooling air from the climate control.

I stand corrected if the 120W Alpine system is the base audio option. But I remain convinced that Pandora from the phone while connected via Parrot sounds a couple of orders of magnitude better than the same track on CD over the stock system. But on the other hand, my primary feed is talk-radio fare and have never been much of one to need to "feel the bass" - I get more than my fill of that when chaps like you pull alongside at stoplights!

With NAV and premium sound, you have a "whole 'nother animal!" I am dubious that the Parrot would be a good solution for such cars. I was given to understand the mic was only fitted if the car had the BT module factory-installed. I know in my case, the 03 didn't have one, the 05 did, but was also equipped with the BT option. Factory BT had the opposite drawback of the Veff, would connect phone audio, but not stream music! Also has terrible outgoing audio, despite a number of different phones attempted.

John is correct, the OP's model year and audio option are key to determining his path forward.

Sorry about that guys I completely forgot!

2005 S-Type 4.2L V8 Sport (non-R)

As I mentioned I got the Premium Alpine System without the touch screen navigation, got the 6 disk CD changer and amp in the truck as well.
