Default R Rear Spoiler 03-04

Well... when I bought my 03 I noticed that it had a pretty good scratch on the passenger side, figured I'd paint it when I do the rear bumper... silly me.

Walked up to it tonight and put a couple of fingers down on it...SNAP... it wasn't scratched, broken.. and someone epoxied it on, so much for that.

I need a new spoiler.

I see Mina has one: Jaguar S-Type Spoiler Wing for Jaguar S-Type Rear

I've emailed Mina asking if it's exact, etc.

Not too keen on ordering the spoiler off of Ebay pre-painted, I just can't convince myself that it will match and not have a ton of orange peel or something.

Anyone use Mina's spoilers? Comments? Other sources? How much is the factory spoiler, any idea? I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow I guess...

Good excuse to order the lower mesh grill from Mina though...

Brad I have dealt with Mina alot when we purchased our S Type. You are far better off calling and talking to Chris there. He is "da man", great place to deal with just a bit slow in the shipping aspect.

Since you were planning to paint anyways ... if you have all the pieces, you can epoxy it together, then fill the insides with a mix of chopped fiberglass and resin. Some bondo and sanding ... better than new.

Chris says it's a replica... so it should look exactly the same.

What happened to the pieces of your old spoiler?

Did you try to take it off and it was epoxied on and your broke it?

Let me know, might be able to salvage this.

Take care,

George

Understood. Jaguar did it right and Mina made a replacement. Fantastic. Beats having to get something as ridiculous as:

Yeah.. I have the piece and it can probably be fixed as it's open at the bottom some, hence the reason someone was able to plastiweld it bit. I may run over to a place, Car Craft, that the guys in my Camaro club suggested and see what he says before ordering a new one. Either way it will need painting and I'm going to reshoot the rear bumper as it has a 3" gouge that needs fixing. The prior owner nicked the passenger mirror too, good time to shoot it as well. Rest of the car is perfect and was garaged so paint matching should be doable.

The right shop can match anything these days...

Plasticweld works wonders... Plus it's not a high stress area or an area subject to impact (as long as you are careful).

Then again if you are going to get it painted. Cost of the labor to fix / sand etc it might surpass what Chris @ mina gives you the wing for.

Take care,

George

I expect that will be the case....plus I will always be worried about it breaking again.

I have one in radiant red that came off my 04 STR. The spoiler is in excellent condition, a few of the mounting tabs were broken upon removal.

Located in socal, its yours if you can figure out how to get it there.
