Radiator fan not cooling, only runs one speed
I have a 2004 Jag S-type V6 and staring this summer the A/C will not cool when stopped in traffic or sitting still. I did take it to a shop and they check the freon and topped it off. I discovered this issue is the radiator cooling fan is only running on low. I was thinking that when the A/C is turned on it should run on high. The car does not overheat, and when going down the highway it cools great.
How can I test to make sure the cooling fan is getting the signal to run on high when the A/C is engaged? also is there a fuse or relay I should be looking for to test? Also my back up indicators quit working as well.....is this something of an electrical gremlin on the s-type Jags?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

If you check the workshop manual ($10 ebay) I think you'll find there's a control module driven by the PCM, i.e. the PCM chooses the speed and the module should then make it happen. It doesn't look like you can easily test them (though I understand the dealer tool can).
Maybe a tech will post details.

I have not obtained a worksho manual. Still having same issue since first post. Guess I need to locate a shop manual or sell the car soon

yes I have all data but its not as in depth as I would hope and I find no tsb on the subject and no opp & discrip on specific cooling system items.
The fan speed is determined by the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) and the air conditioning pressure and transmission oil temperature. In my case all pre rec's have been met for full fan speed.
Since Ive had a new fan + cooling fan control module and ECT sensor installed there are not to many more options left.
My Questions:
1. I see there is a Radiator Cooling Fan Temperature Sensor / Switch but no information on it, can I get a operation and description on it and the location?
2. Is there any re-programming that needs to be done after a new fan+CFCM?

Have you replaced any items or done any thing to try to correct the problem?
Since we have the same problem with the high speed fan setting not coming on when you turn the AC to max cool, I'm wondering if the A/C pressure is not high enough to kick the full speed on since the computer is looking at AC pressures.
I noticed I have some pressure problems with my A/C.
Low side 68psi
high side 170psi
I would like to know if your pressures are similar?
Have you discovered a fix for this? Im still having the same issue, the cooling fan never kicks on high, but yetbthe temp gauge always remains in middle after running for a while. I think it has to be overheating ?? But gauge never moves past middle
Or if some one can tell me what freon pressure the computer is looking for in order to kick the fan on that would answer my question also.
I'm having the same problem on a 2007 s-type went to shop today and checked my freon levels emptied and filled said that the pressure weren't right on idle and that it wasn't until my rpms rises to about 1.5-2 that they got around the right level but still goin a little back and forth he said I needed a compressor gonna run 732 installed including todays freon add goin back Thursday is too hot to get stuck in traffic here in Austin

To confirm, your fan would not run at the high speed setting with A/C on Max?
My pressures before were around 70-140 and now its 36-195
