Aftermarket pads, especially autozone specials etc are a little smaller than the factory pad. Even with anti rattle springs installed, they move around and make noise. If you want aftermarket pads, I hear great things about Akebono pads or go with factory ones. Also check the dust shield and make sure it is not loose or you didn't bend it so it contacts rotor. I have also had a couple of them that the bolts holding the caliper to anchor bracket werent holding it properly. Maybe stretched. I replaced the bolts and noise disappeared. Not common though. I would say if aftermarket pads, they are moving in caliper causing rattle.

Also - If they are directional pads - ie angled on top or bottom of pad, make sure the angle part of pad is at bottom. If you put pad in upsidedown could cause rattle also. Everyone has made that mistake once.

Actually you hit it dead on, I purchase my pads from Autozone, the cheapies, until I get some new cross drilled rotors I 'm thinking on buying.
I checked the heat shield and it was fine....
I checked the pads and the seem real secure...
I will remove the wheel and pad tommorrow. As a matter of fact I did bend one of the retaining clips a lil because it won't stay on the pad, it kept coming off.

Get factory pads. They come with new clips and new bolts.

Didnt come up until brake job. Not likely it is a coincidence. Seen it a hundred times people using after market pads and they rattle. S-Types are the worst for it because of the anti rattle clips. The suspension on the S makes more of knocking noises than rattles.

you know more than me bro. I just figured with the car being jacked up it flexes the suspension and could cause the joint to overextend and become loose. I have seen it a million times on other cars. Not sure about these though. Good looking out!
