RearView Mirror Fluid...Resolved
The rearview in the wife's S-type was not autodimming and then started to ooze the E-Chromatic Goo. The Compass worked as did the auto Headlights. I used Gaff Tape as a quick save to stop the goo dripping.
Went on EBay and bought a mirror that said it was for my Model/Year and had Compass and E-Chromatic Dimming. When it got here the Mount was wrong as were the cable connectors. I thought that it might be good to crack the cases and see if the Guts could be swapped.
The internal connectors were different. So, I cut the Circuit Boards off of the Glasses by splitting the Foam Tape. De-soldered two wires (Black and Red) from each of the PCBs, re-soldered the good glass to my old PCB and tested it again. All worked well, Dimming and all.
I re-assembled the board and glass with 3-M TwoFaced Foam Tape, put the case back together (a bit of SuperGlue to seal the Case back up) and re-installed everything.
Total Cost: $49.00
Total time: 25 minutes
I love working on this car!

Yep, I've heard it called dragon's blood as well....
I'll take a plain old rear view mirror anytime over these fluid-filled monstrosities. Sometimes the old-fashioned ways are the best ways....
