Default Recently purchased 2002 S-Type with no keys.

What route should i take tward obtaining an ignition key? I want to avoid pay several hundred dollars at the dealership for a key a locksmith wanted $250

Buy a used lockset with two keys including the remotes.

I think you'd also need to have the car programmed to know them.

For the $250 you have already wasted you could have had it done at the dealer.
There is a reason it's hard to get keys for a car without any. Usually it requires a dealer and documentation that you do own the car.

How did you get a car with no keys?

I believe you need two keys and either a dealer or a locksmith with the correct software to program a Jaguar S type.

The link below has a discussion on key programming and there will be others on the forum.

I have one bent key that has worked for me for four years. But I know if it stops working I will probably need to tow my car 400km to get two keys paired as there are no locksmiths locally that can do it.

Have you had a good look around the car. Sometimes people hide a spare key and it might have a magnetic key holder. Worth a try looking.
