Default Restricted Performance/Engine Coolant Low

I've tried searching through the forums to see if someone else has experienced the same type of problem I'm currently having but to no avail.

Last week an "Engine Coolant Low" light appeared on my dashboard and subsequently I received a "Restricted Performance" message. I had the engine coolant leak repaired but the "Restricted Performance" message and light still remain. The car seems to run fine but I'm hesitant to drive it in the event I might somehow damage the car.

Apart from the "Jaguar Lurch", the car has been running exceptional until the "Engine Coolant Low" message appeared and now the engine light won't go away. The light comes on after about 5-minutes of driving and then I immediately return home.

Considering the car runs fine and I haven't noticed any issues, am I at risk of damaging the car by driving it? Like I said, the car was running great until the coolant message appeared.

Thanks.

If he light is on there will be codes, Autozone or one of the others will read them for free, take a note and post back with what you find.

And don't forget the new member intro!

It may be coincidence and just be one of the commonish causes (flattish battery / damp in trunk etc). Have a read of other relevant threads

Like what was posted above. Everything will be based on what the error codes are.

Get us the code and we can start guessing!

Default Low coolant warning

Had similar problem with 2001 XJR , Drove me crazy!
Changed the coolant cap.
Opened up heater / AC modes 4-5 times to get out air.
Try a pressure test on system { Harbor Freight has one for $30.00}
Also O Reillys will rent you one { free} if you return the kit for the deposit requested about $110.00
My problem appears solved for moment , apart for dreaded PO171 & PO174

However I am concerned and will be putting in the "real gauge " from White XKR next year .
