Restricted performance issues 4.2 V8 N/A
Hi there I’ve just bought my first jag s type 4.2 v8 n/a
it had a problem of going into restricted performance which was intermittent and cleared. It was fine on the 100 mile drive home that was until I gave her some beans now it won’t rev past 3k and sounds like she’s firing on 6 cylinders.
Codes present
P0201 injector cylinder 1 open circuit
P0207 injector cylinder 7 open circuit
P1000 manufacture specific ?
P1646 manufacture specific ?
P1647 manufacture specific ?
there was also a code for fuel pump relay no.2 but I forgot to photo it.
any help on getting her running sweet again greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It has been decatted forgot to mention
maf reading on idle is 9g/s

P1646 and P1647 are all about the1st heated O2 (lambda) sensors in both sides of the exhaust.
With the O2 sensors on these cars if you clear the faults from the system, they only show up again after two 'drives' with the fault.
I do not know the exact length of the 'drives' but sitting stationary with the engine running does not count as a 'drive'.
(They will also clear without clearing the codes after two 'drives' with no fault.)
Do not use cheap pattern part sensors, they will either not work or fail.
The original ones are made by Denso and should have the makers name on the sensor body.
(Be warned there are also fake denso sensors that have no name on them!!)
If you can find them 'new old stock' ones in Jaguar boxes are often available.
P1000 is all about a incomplete systems check since the last code reset.
Both the above could be down to missing sensors or the modifications done now the cats have been removed?
I have no idea how they would trick the system if there are no cats!!
From new these cars have O2 sensors before and after the cats on both sides.
Incorrect readings from any one of them will bring up fault codes and the engine warning light.
Does you car have an MOT?
An engine warning light not working or on is a fail on UK MOT tests as is the emmisions on a car that should have cats and has had them removed.

If you're trying to rev when parked STOP. It's bad for the car so it's preventing it. (Occasional revs to about 2500 are OK e.g. to test fuel trims or for emissions tests.)
Fix the faults ASAP as it's likely trying to cope by running rich - which is bad for the cats. (Lean would be much worse, though.)

I was thinking it would be quite unusual for the O2 sensors themselves to simultaneously fail on both sides. I wanted to double check the code definitions but don't see the model year mentioned anywhere.
