Exclamation s type 4ltr auto trans

my auto gear lever will pull back to D but no drive
if i move to 4 and push hard forward (lever only just moves a few mm) then
get drive
have gone through all the fourms about adjusting shifter and got that right,
But cannot gear lever to go past 4 ( to 3 or 2) ie move gear lever forward

Your shifter cable could be streteched to the point that would render adjusting useless. (you did properly adjust the cable from R-N and N-d - yes?) Could also be the shifter assembly itself.

Default S type auto

Yes I did adjust it that way
What goes wrong in the shifter is electrical ie
Are there any sensors there
As I have checked the micro switch for D . 4
The solenoid works ok for locking lever
But dont know if there is any thing in the top black display
Other then the position lights (any sensors)
Thanks roly

You need to read TSB S307-06. I uploaded it several years ago and it should be in the stickey section.
I could upload it here but you won't be able to download until you get 10 posts.

Just changed the Shifter S/Hand . before I installed it i replaced the white plastic part with the aluminum mod one. but still the same
also i cannot see any inner sleeve movement . so now its buy a new cable and try that, Or is there something in auto box that can stop lever moving from 4 to 2
thank you roly
